David Williams is a painter in the American Impressionist tradition. Born in Washington, DC. and raised in Virginia, his landscape, still-life and marine paintings are an exploration of beauty, color and simplified form.
David began studying through private instruction around the age of ten. Later, while attending art school, he stumbled upon a book, "The Pleasures of Painting Outdoors", which would become the starting point for a new direction. With book in hand, he set out to teach himself plein air painting.
After thirteen years working as a professional artist, David's paintings can be counted in collections throughout the United States. His work has appeared in magazine and newspaper articles, featured in twelve solo exhibitions and included in sixty eight group shows.
In 2009 David relocated to California to paint and revel in the beauty of the Golden State. He divides his time between Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo.
Additional information
In addition to painting most everyday, David continues his artistic growth through classes and workshops. Over the years he has studied with a number of prominent artists including Sunny Apinchapong Yang, Camille Przewodek, Gay Faulkenberry, Jove Wang and Sherrie McGraw. He has studied at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art, Scottsdale Art School, Virginia Museum Studio, Richmond Visual Art Center, VCU and NVCC.
David has been juried into art organizations such as the Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters.
